Today, Salman Rushdie was stabbed while giving a speech onstage at the Chautauqua Institution in upstate New York.
The perpetrator was arrested on scene, and Rushdie was flown to an appropriate hospital according to reports.
Few details have been released about Rushdie’s condition or the identification of the perpetrator.
In 1989, Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa – an Islamic legal ruling – calling for the killing of Rushdie for authoring The Satanic Verses, which discusses the verses of the Koran reportedly revealed to Islam’s prophet Mohammad which came from Satan.
Rushdie lived a secret life for years to keep from being assassinated.
As a not-so-side-note, in November 2021, a court in Norway charged the former first secretary of the Iranian embassy in Norway, Mohammad Nik-Khah, and another man with the 1993 attempted assassination of William Nygaard, the publisher of The Satanic Verses, who was shot 3 times during the attack.
Two key points to this story:
- Islamic Law/Sharia is always in play in the muslim community, is real law, is taught in U.S. Islamic schools, and is antithetical to American founding principles, U.S. laws, and the U.S. Constitution.
- The Chautauqua Institution is a jihadi-loving and jihadi-supporting “christian” organization, so it is no surprise someone who violates sharia would be stabbed there. See UTT’s article on Chautauqua from 2017 HERE.
