“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.”
The First Inaugural Address of President George Washington, April 30, 1789
Today as America celebrates 237 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is essential to take an appropriate perspective of where we are as a people and what the underpinnings of this event are all about.
The signers of this historic document put down on paper for all of time the single belief that all humans are born with liberty granted to them by the Creator of the Universe, the Supreme Judge…God.
We as Americans surrender a small bit of our liberty to create a government for the good of all, which has the responsibility of securing our liberty.
God gave us our liberty – no man or government can take it away.
The Signers Declared America Independent of the rule and stranglehold of the English King who did so many great wrongs they were enumerated in the Declaration for the world to see.
Inherent in the Declaration is an important part of our Founding that we as Americans, especially today, cannot forget. If we are to survive as a people and as a Nation, we must be DEPENDENT on God and take the course that is right and just in his eyes.
We are a Constitutional Republic not merely a democracy. This means our system of government and our Constitution are rooted in principles which come FROM something concrete. Our legal system and many specific laws about everything from immigration to why the President must be a natural born American come from the Bible. This is a historical fact. The Ten Commandments – posted in the Supreme Court – is the fulcrum upon which our legal system was founded.
“The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and in the next. Continue therefore to read it and to regulate your life by its precepts.”
John Jay, Original Chief Justice, U.S. Supreme Court
Governor of New York, President of the Continental Congress, Leader – Federalist Party
With all of the ills that have swept over our land from our poor financial stewardship of our rich blessings ($17 trillion in debt) to our moral decay and disregard for the sanctity of life (over 1 million abortions in America each year), we continue to walk away from the hand of “Divine Providence” and walk towards individual independence.
If we are to retain the blessings given to our great nation, we must continue to be “Independent” of ideologies and governmental systems which enslave people (as the British King did to our forefathers) and move to a place of total DEPENDENCE on God our Father who longs for us to return home.
“The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were…the general principles of Christianity….Now I will avow that I then believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”

Founding Father, First U.S. Vice President, Second President of the United States
